Hits and Misses, Odds and Ends, Rounding Third and Heading For Home

38 days, 29 major league ballparks, 3 minor league parks, 1 basketball arena, 1 hockey arena, 34 hotel rooms, 18,000+ miles through 38 states and 1 province, some great side trips, and too many cups of coffee to count. The Epic EV Roadtrip is heading into the home stretch. This final week brought us to Angel Stadium where we saw Andrew Heaney toss a one-hit shutout on his 27th birthday to lead Los Angeles to a 1-0

Laundry, The Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Donnie and Marie, or Hockey? As for the game, there was to be no quick getaway from Safeco Field as the Mariners and Rays played 13 innings, capped off by Mitch Haniger’s walk off homer at the 4:16 mark and Seattle outlasting Tampa Bay 4-3.

So far over 17 days we’ve logged 7500+ miles, traveled through 29 states, weathered rain delays, rainouts, and hail storms, visited 17 ballparks, and watched 16 ballgames first pitch to last. We’ve seen an inside-the-park homerun (Aaron Hicks in KC), and something almost as rare these days, a complete game shutout (Miles Mikolas in St. Louis). Extra Innings at Yankee Stadium - It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Panic in Detroit

It was only a matter of time before either extra innings or weather would throw a another monkey wrench into the schedule. Today we got both. It took 4 hours and 15 minutes and 11 innings for the Yankees to get by the A’s, making it nearly impossible to get to our second game at Citizens Bank Park by 7:05 first pitch. But our hopes were kept alive as storms moved into the Philadelphia area, and

Seager Homers Twice, Leake Strong as Mariners Down Jays

5/11 BALLOG

How many relief pitchers have hit home runs off reigning Cy Young winners? The Reds Clay Carroll hit one off Bob Gibson in 1969. And it happened again last night. The Brewers Brent Suter hit a Ruthian blast off Cleveland’s Corey Kluber in the third inning to lead Milwaukee to a 3-2 victory over the Indians at Miller Park.

Sleepless in Milwaukee, EpicEVRoadtrippers Dodge Rain Out in Windy City, Avert Disaster

After suffering through two nights without AC in our Milwaukee motel room, we drove down to the South Side of Chicago facing the prospect of a rain out. We second guessed our decision to flip the White Sox and Brewer games on our original schedule, agreeing that in hindsight, it probably would have been better to have saved Milwaukee for day 3 since Miller Park has a retractable roof.
